North Dakota is currently experiencing an oil boom that is providing new prosperity for the state. Unemployment is low and tax revenues were over 2 billion in 2013 . But some say the oil boom is coming with unexpected costs. According to the US Department of Justice, violent crime rates are up in nearby communities. What does that mean for tribes in Bakken oil region? What steps should be taken to address these crime and negative impacts of the oil boom?
